The Party Setup

Ang had her birthday yesterday, and unfortunately, the new Sandra Grey book, Trespass, wasn't out yet.  That is what she wanted, so we'll have to get her a belated birthday present when it comes out.  It was a very busy day yesterday, with me working until late, and her having to go to class right after I got home.  But...I had a plan.  As soon as she was out the door, I loaded the kids up and we went to the store to buy her a cake and card (and, of course, the kids wanted some doughnuts).  Then, we got home, and set up the table with her cake, card, plates, and everything you need for a party.  Finally, we got baths done, and waited...

After about 30 minutes of waiting and hiding in the dark (which nearly drove the kids up the wall), we heard the car door shut and knew she was home.  I hurried and lit the candles (for the third time after two false alarms), and we got ready.  Everyone actually stayed quiet until Ang got in the family room when we jumped out and yelled surprise.  She was very surprised, figuring the kids would be in bed.  Then we had cake, which was great.

Today, Soleil and I got up and made her breakfast in bed to round things out.  Unfortunately, with all the kids who dove into bed with her, I am not sure how much she got to eat.  I do know that Soleil ate two muffins on my side of the bed before it was made, meaning that I am going to have muffin everywhere when I try to sleep tonight.  Could be messy.
