| Box Selection |
Well, the kids are now into Wonder Pets, whatever those are. When I got home from running a few errands today, Jesse was in the midst of completing plans to build a "fly ship," which is apparently what the Wonder Pets fly around in. He quickly told me about everything
I was going to need to do to get this fly ship completed. It involved a lot of nailing and gluing, among other things. First, we went to the garage where he picked out a long, thin piece of plywood that he directed me to cut in half so that he could have a flag pole for his ship. Then, he had me help him rummage through a huge pile of boxes we have accumulated in the garage so that he could select just the right one. You'd have thought he was picking out a new car for all the consideration he gave that choice. It took him 20 minutes to settle on the right one.

Next we got out the carpentry knife and began cutting the box to specifications only he knew, attaching the flag pole, which we'd nailed the flag to earlier, and attaching the "rocket boosters." The rocket boosters were the best part (note the orange and blue things on the back of the ship in the picture). They were caps off of two of my highlighters! When he showed them to me, I asked, "Oh, well where are the highlighters that the caps go with?" Without a concern in the world, he responded that they were "in the garbage" because he didn't need them anymore. I'm also glad I didn't really need them because apparently he really did trash them.
It finally was getting close to time for him to go to school, so he left me with a few instructions to do things while he was gone. Apparently I am to cut circular "windows" in a panel of cardboard so that he can attach it and look out of the ship when he is flying.
His little mind never stops working, nor do Rhett's or Soleil's. Always busy.
