Stingers Soccer 2010

Jesse - Thrill of Victory
Jesse and Soleil had their first game today and it went well.  The team is made up pretty much of the same group that played last time, so they know each other well.

The game started at 3:30, so it was pretty warm, the temp in the mid-90's.  We set up the shade structure for the team and mom's to sit under to get out of the sun.  If everyone gets really cozy, there is enough room.  I am taking pictures for the team again, so I spent most of my time running around the field trying to get good angles.  I am hoping I got good shots of everyone.  It took a few minutes for the kids to get acclimated to the competition again, but once they did, the route was on.  Jesse can really play well when "properly motivated," but the trick is finding what motivates him.  Well, we found it--he loves Legos, and we'd promised him a dollar per goal.  Well, he doesn't really get the value of money, but he DOES get that each dollar gets him closer to buying a Lego set.  Once he made that connection, he was a man on a mission with the goal scoring.

It was a great start to the season.  See more about their team at their team's blog.

A little amendment:  We decided the dollar-per-goal thing was maybe not the best way to go, so we just go get a Frostie if they play hard and do their best.  I think it will work better.
