Soleil's First Time Bearing Her Testimony

For the past few months, Soleil, has been telling us that she wants to "bury" (bear) her testimony in Church.  For those of you who may be unfamiliar with this, a brief explanation:  every first Sunday of the month in the LDS church is called Fast and Testimony meeting, on which many of the members fast (go without a few meals and contribute the value of those meals, or more if they are able, to the church welfare fund to help those in need).  Then, during the sacrament service that day, some will stand at the pulpit to share their testimonies of the Savior and how He has influenced their lives.

When the time came today, there were very few people standing, as it is a rather intimidating experience, even among friends.  That is, for everyone except Soleil.  One man had stood, and had encouraged others to come up and share their testimonies.  That was all Soleil needed.  We were sitting in the back (if you've seen us in church, you understand the strategy here), and that long walk might have deterred some people.  Again, not Soleil.  She got up right after that first person sat down and went up all by herself (and it was a long walk on those two little legs).  She bore a very sweet and sincere testimony.  She talked about how grateful she was for the gospel, the prophet, her family, and the temple.

For those of you who are not LDS, the temple is where we believe families can be sealed together, not just for time, but for eternity.  It allows families to be together forever.

After Soleil finished, she made that long walk back down to us and I have to say I've seldom been more proud.  I hope she never outgrows that courage.
