Today started at 5:30am. Because we had been at the wedding all day yesterday (see the prior post), I had not been able to get some of the things ready for Mothers' Day like I'd wanted to. So, the alarm went off before the sun came up. I don't think Ang paid much attention, because she knew she was getting breakfast in bed. However, I didn't want it to be Cheerios, so I needed to make a little run to the store. With everyone still asleep, I snuck out and picked up a few things.
Breakfast ended up being hashbrowns, bacon, and blueberries/raspberries/strawberries with whipped cream. We use this day to not only honor Ang, but also Soleil, so she got to have breakfast in bed with mommy. She was very pleased about this. I'd promised her she could, so she'd been looking forward to it for a long time.
I realized I had forgotten the corsages early on, so on the way back from the store, I stopped by the florist I've used a few times and found they were going to open at 8am. I called them an hour or so later and was able to get a couple made up on short notice (I get Soleil a corsage on this day too). Ang and Soleil were both very excited and grateful.
For dinner, which Ang actually did more on than I did, we grilled two big racks of pork ribs (we didn't realize there were two racks in the package). It was a pretty big undertaking, and we ended up doing one on the grill (until we ran out of propane) and the other in the oven. Very good stuff, but a lot of time and work.
We sure are grateful for Ang and all she does for our family and the blessing she is in our home. Happy Mothers' Day Ang, and to all the mothers out there! Even those who aren't technically mothers, but who have influenced children for the better deserve to be honored on this day as well.
